Part 2: Who Can Ride, and How the Day Goes

Who can ride

  • Riders must be 8 years old or older. A child under 8 cannot ride double with a parent; the minimum age is the minimum.
  • For the safety of our horses, the rider weight limit is 250 lbs maximum.
  • In your Pre-Ride Intake form, tell us the height and riding experience of each rider so we can match every person to the right horse.
  • Every participant signs the participant agreement before any hands-on time with the horses. If you have not signed yours yet, the link is in your booking emails.

How the day goes

  • Plan for 75 to 90 minutes, including check-in and a safety orientation.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to check in, meet your horse, and get fitted.
  • Your guide gives a short ground lesson before you mount.
  • The ride follows the trail and the beach at a relaxed walk, which makes it ideal for beginners.
  • Your guide stays with you the entire ride. Follow their cues, and speak up any time you feel unsure.

Next up: Part 3, how to be good company for your horse.

The rider rules that keep people and horses safe, and exactly what happens from check-in to the beach.
